Apparently bikes are pretty popular here
Brugge, Belgum. I think we had a 500 piece puzzle with this quaint scene on it growing up...

1) Picture of a well OR 2) Evocative image reminding us all of a simpler bucolic way of life linked more closely to the outdoors, earth, and God for sustenance? You decide.

So we were walking down this charming and quiet back street when we heard music blaring and lots of people clapping around the corner. As we turned onto the main street we heard Brian Adams "Summer of 69" blasting out of the most random tracker-pulled 'floats (?)' ever with people dressed up in costumes for an indiscernible reason.
We had no idea what was happening (maybe some "welcome summer" party--but in February?), but with Brian Adams tractor parades...Brugge had lost just a little bit of magic.

This was my photographic discovery of the trip: usually long exposure shots just mean we're silhouetted but with a flash at the end of the exposure you can get us and the scene exposed just right. It sort of looks like someone just cut us out and glued us to a postcard but believe me, we were there.
