Art Project
Miranda claims I helped, if you call painting the trunk of the red tree helping. Pretty impressive though, don't you think?

Postcard photo weekend
Here are a number of our self-taken modeling photos for our 'Save the Date' cards. For every decent photo in this album, there are about 10 ridiculous shots that didn't get uploaded. This project took up the majority of our weekend, which also included hours on the train, an attempt to track down a Chipotle wannabe and a visit to a few closed bridal stores.

Lucia
December 13th used to be the shortest day of the year in the old calendar. This tradition of light remains from that time. Typically the girls in each household will dress like this and sing while they serve their parents breakfast. There are also choirs at school and kids come in to their parents' offices to sing. And yes, those are real candles on the one girl's head.

Most of these photos were taken 1 second apart, so it makes for a cool flip-book effect if you can view them on a quick slideshow. Also,be sure to notice how my attempted kiss makes Miranda jump away. :(

A group of pirates and Pippi Longstocking...I guess my costume wasn't quite good enough as the kids in their movie theater uniforms mistook me for one of them.

A Cold Day in Uppsala
Uppsala University is spread through the entire city, so we weren't really sure what was part of the university and what was just Uppsala. We do know that the main church in town is the main cathedral of the Church of Sweden. There's also a huge castle in the middle of town. Apparently some guy in the castle liked pointing cannons at all of the major buildings in town to remind everyone who was in charge.

Skansen
We took a trip to Sweden's living history museum, Skansen, the world's first open-air museum that also includes a Nordic zoo. The museum was opened in 1891 and is meant to be a historical view of Sweden in miniature. Skansen is located on top of a hill on Djurgarden, an island that is pretty much nothing but open park land. The pictures include our trip there and back as well as some of the better views of Stockholm from the higher points on the island.
