Hazelnut Crunch Cake for Dan's Nursery Class.
My silly son put the candles on upside down. Bleah.
There are more boys than girls in Dan's nursery class.
Daniel saw his first sunrise (6.30am) on his birthday. We were at the SAF Seaview Chalet which had a stunning view of the waters & the sun.
We took off to Pulau Ubin at 8.50am on Dan's birthday. The kids look scared. (We're in a bumboat here.)
Ben relaxed more after getting off the bumboat. Here we are at the Ubin jetty. Doesn't he have the cutest face?
High tide at the Chek Jawa boardwalk.
Beautiful scenery at the Chek Jawa boardwalk.
3 boys.
At the Tudor House at Chek Jawa.
I like this picture.
After a long hike up and down Ubin, we looked like this.
In the afternoon, family came over to hang.
Grandpa led the group in watching Olympics.
Meanwhile, hard work was being done outside. Our dinner! ^__^ Thanks to Auntie, Uncle and Po Po.
Satay from City Satay. Teriyaki Chicken Wings--my recipe.
Dinner was quickly dispensed with. Then, the real event--CAKE from Tempting Treats. Thanks again Tricia! You've made 3 birthday cakes for me already! (And still more to come!)
Finally, everybody looked at the camera. Except me. :)
Presents time.
Ben claims a present with his thunder thigh. :)
The highlight of the presents was a train set from Uncle Josh, Auntie Linda and Samuel. We HAD TO set that up right away! Dan also loved the books from Auntie Sally and pretty much all the other pressies!
The next day, we invited friends over. The party started off by the beach.
Charis, Gabe & Dan.
Joseph (like Ben) was a bit ancy about sand.
Mommy got to catch up with Angeline. FINALLY! :)
In the meantime, Naomi (Hung & Van's 2nd kid) was off in dreamland.
Wei San appeared.
As did Eileen.
Mom & Babe. Oops. I mean Gabe. :)
Gabe.
They were totally getting wet!
Dan with the biggest pail ever.
Playing by the beach.
Gabe had cool beach toys, which Hung helped to set up. Thanks Gabe, Hung & Van!
Dan was in good spirits.
A final shot of the beach fun. You can tell the sun is going down a bit as the sky's a bit pinky.
After the beach, more people came.
The beach kids bathed and changed into new clothes.
While the adults talked and ate. On the menu for the night: BULGOGI (my recipe), more teriyaki wings and more satay from City Satay. There was also an interesting grilled brie and apricot dish, from Bim! :)
As you can see, the train set from last night was still around today!
Here is Wei San showing off his fiancee's beautiful cake. It was not only beautiful, but yummy too!!!!
Can yor stop taking pictures and let me blow out my candles???!
A parting shot. By coincidence, the night of our friends party, we heard a huge explosion followed by a huge fire that looked like it was coming from Ubin. The fire burnt all night long and the next day, we found out it was not Ubin, but Johor!
